Denisa Strakova - Canberra night nude
Published:
I was lucky enough to be able to photograph Denisa Strakova on her recent trip to Australia, so we headed out to a few locations around the Parliamentary Triangle.

Whenever I do location nudes in fairly public places, I tend to start at the location that is least likely to have people and end at the one that is most likely.

It's not always easy as even in the middle of the night there will be people around exercising, walking their dog and around the lake fishing.

For this photo shoot we started in the area around Lennox gardens which has a number of different areas that make good photo locations.

The dappled lighting in these photos comes from a spot light a fair distance away passing through trees before lighting Denisa.

For the ones in this location the light in some was solely bounced from the buildings to the clouds and back, in others I added a bit of light from a small LED light that I have that was set to low power to balance it against the background light.

We then moved into the main part of the Triangle, starting near the High Court. Amusingly this was the third time I've done photos in this general area that a police patrol has passed by just before we started.

In all of these the only light used was what was available in the locations.

I had planned on using some of the other lighting that is normally on in this area, however there were quite a lot of them out. It's strange being in the Nation's capital yet having so many lights in a showcase area being out. There were some out on the bridges, some out at the international flagpoles, most of the ones in the area between the High Court, the National Gallery and the Portrait Gallery were out. Hopefully they will be fixed before Enlighten is on.

Luckily they were working around the main flagpole near the High Court.

Even here about half the lights were out.

For the last few I wanted to use the boardwalk lights, again a lot of them were out too, but we found one that was working in a suitable place to align with the Carillon.

Co-incidentally just as we finished and headed back to the car a car load of people turned up, good timing that.
