I'm often asked what my favourite model, shoot or photo is, my usual answer is that there are far too many to choose from, which is correct. I find I like far too many of them for different reasons. One of my favourite photo shoots was a couple of years ago with Elaina Noir on one of my trips to Sydney.
One of the reasons it's one of my favourites was that it was a relaxed and comfortable shoot, that had only the basics. There was no make-up, no hair styling, for the most part just the light that was available, with the occasional assistance from a torch (in the room), a single flash (a few of the location photos) and simple clothing.
The hotel room I was in wasn't facing quite the way I hoped, but it wasn't too bad for natural light, so we started with natural light photos while the light held.
I then closed the curtains which were good quality black out ones and set up a torch on a light stand to make use of a patterned wall at the back of the room.
Just before sunset we headed out around Pyrmont to do some location photos.
Mostly we used the light that was available from the surrounding area, in the previous and next photo there were these lights facing up surrounding a statue by the shore that we made use of.
For the last few I placed a flash on the ground some distance away and balanced it with the background lighting. We had planned to do some nude photos while out on location, unfortunately there were too many people around.
That has been the only shoot I've done with Elaina, but I hope to have the opportunity to do so again one day, hopefully underwater.
