Raw: encompass (NSFW)
Published:
Next Wednesday night (13 November) I'll be displaying a few of my limited edition prints in public for the first time at Raw: encompass, and truth be told I'm a little nervous.
I would love to one day hold a solo exhibition of my prints—because truthfully I think they look best large and on the wall—however whether I do or not depends to an extent on how successful Raw is as my first public viewing.
So what can you expect from Raw: encompass?
Raw is an evening showcasing artists from different fields, photography, art, fashion, hair, make up, body paint, music, film and dance.
Tickets are $15 pre-purchased and you can choose to support a particular artist when buying your ticket. Each participating artist commits to selling 20 tickets in order to draw a decent sized crowd.
At $15 it's one of the better valued events in town.
The event is aimed to promote independent artists in the first ten years of their career and to help them promote themselves and their work. As part of this promotional interviews and photographs are conducted with the artists on the day.
To get an idea of what to expect, you can head across to Daniel Spellman's blog of the first Raw showcase held in Canberra.
The photos on this page are the ones I've chosen to be in my showcase. It was very difficult to narrow it down to three choices, and I'm still tempted to swap one of them out :)
If you would like to attend and support me, you can purchase your ticket from the Raw website, doors open at 7:30 and it is being held at the Academy Club. I hope to see you there.
