Self portraits
Published:
It's been a few years since I last posted any self portraits, so thought it was time to post an update. I'm sometimes hesitant to post my self portraits here as the blog is tied to my business, but the business is also my art, and most artists I know do at least some self portraits so why not do so occasionally. If you really don't want to know what I look like then skip this post.
I do self portraits for a number of reasons.
Sometimes like this one it's just to see if a pose is possible, I didn't even set up decent lighting for it, I just wanted to see that it could be done without breaking a neck. I was up on my toes for a bit but couldn't get the timing of it to work out with when the shutter was open.
Other times it is to test out ways of lighting different places.
Sometimes it's just because I'm in the mood to take a few photos.
Occasionally with rope.
Sometimes it's testing out how various locations work, so I know what to expect for future photo shoots.
Sometimes it's because I'm travelling and find interesting places to shoot.
One thing though is it's more nerve wracking to be on location by yourself than when photographing someone. Every little noise seems to jump out at you, and you only have one set of eyes and ears to look out for passersby instead of two.
Amusingly with these ones it also shows how my hair has been growing since I've gone from oldest to newest (apart from the linked image).
